"An autobiography usually reveals nothing bad about its writer except his memory" ~ Franklin P. Jones

I'm an Alabamian, born and raised.  I grew up in Birmingham, attended Kennedy Grammar School, Woodlawn High, and, for a short, miserable attempt at college, UAB.  I'm a huge Auburn Football fan, but that's it.  My wife is the sports fan in the Family.

I served for twenty-four years in the Army, mostly in the 82nd Airborne's 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment as an Infantryman.  I also served in England for two years with 1 Para, three tours with NATO in Izmir Turkiye, and three years teaching ROTC.  I'm a graduate of Class 47 of the Sergeants Major Academy.

I retired from the Army a few days before the planes hit the towers on 9-11.  I continue to wear the uniform working for the state of Virginia at a small college in the Shenandoah Valley.

I married a beautiful Alabama girl, have two wonderful kids, a sweet daughter-in-law, one rambunctious grandson and a new granddaughter.
