my past

"The past cannot be changed.  The future is yet in your power." ~ unknown

I'm an Alabamian, born and raised. I grew up in Birmingham, attending Kennedy Grammar School and Woodlawn High School.  I'm a huge Auburn football fan.

After a miserable, failed attempt at College, and working awhile at Motion Industries, I joined the US Army.

I served in the Army for 24 years, mostly in the 82nd Airborne's 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment as an Infantryman.  I was posted to Turkey three times to work in NATO, to the British Parachute Regiment for two years on Her Majesty's Service, and to VMI to work in their ROTC department.  I'm a graduate of Class 47 of the US Army Sergeants Major Academy and have attended a bucket load of colleges on the Hodgepodge Army "Opportunity" Plan.

I retired from the army a few days before the planes hit the World Trade Center towers.  I worked for 16 years at Virginia military institute and the Corps and Institute Sergeant Major, the finest retirement job an old Infantryman could ever have.

After forty-one years in uniform, I retired on 1 February, 2018.
